Discipleship
Lake’s Discipleship Organizational Process
The most important aspect of Lakes Community Chapel is the product of disciples. A disciple is a believer who is in the process of becoming more like Christ, i.e., displaying His character, daily living out His values and disciplines, choosing to serve others, actively pursuing His mission - to make disciples of all nations, and seeking in everything to glorify the Father.
The Lakes family is currently in the process of organizing for the specific ministry of discipleship. Working with the DisciplePath organization, the Leadership and Discipleship Organizational Teams implemented several Bible study groups who reviewed over 1,400 passages of Scripture that relate to a disciple’s beliefs, actions, values, and priorities. These Scriptures have been categorized and placed into the description of the Four Phases of Discipleship.
This ministry endeavor is open to the church family for involvement and will take two years or more to fully implement. During the process the church will offer an entrance into the differing groups at the differing phases so that anyone who desires to grow in Christ will have a place to go for friendship, fellowship, encouragement, and accountability. The ministry will be updated and expanded as the Ministry Team deems necessary or appropriate.
The Discipleship in Action Groups (Phase 2) were implemented in September, 2008. In November, 2009, the first group completed Phase 2. In February, 2010, another group completed Phase 2. New groups, Phase 2 and Phase 3 will begin in March, 2010.
